Board Meeting

The next OTC Board Meeting will take place on August 25, 2008, at Baker Brothers located on Soncy at 8:30. Come straight from the Monday Night Ride. The agenda will be posted next week but will include an update on the Old Tascosa Classic and the upcoming season for Team Jetstream. Everyone is invited to attend and be active in the club. The club is only as strong as its members.

Cattle Country Stampede

As many of you know, we had to cancel the Cattle Country Stampede in Dimmitt because of bad weather. We hated to do this, but lighting and road conditions were dangerous. We have rescheduled for September 13th. Please put it on your calendar and relay the information. We have great roads and it is for a good cause, so we are working hard to be successful for years to come. Difficult Decision

I am sorry to have to announce that we will not be having any races with the Old Tascosa Classic this year. This has been a difficult decision to make and not the answer I wanted to have to give to each of you.

The biggest reason we decided not to have the races this year is because several of our sponsors from last year chose not to come back in this year. Several other events happened this year that didn't happen last year that took up sponsorship money so we simply did not have the funds to do the job.

I am sorry, I wish it wasn't so. I have gone back and looked at it even after we first decided to drop the races, at the request of several people who really wanted them to happen, but we just can't pull it off for now.

National News, Mayors Adopt Bicycling Resolution

National News Conference of Mayors Adopts Bicycling Resolution on The morning of June 23, the Conference of Mayors passed and adopted a resolution that bicycling should be integrated into the United States’ transportation, climate, energy and health policy initiatives. It got widespread support from the mayors, including more than 25 mayors who signed on to co-sponsors the bill. Chris Koos, the mayor of Normal, Ill., originated the popular resolution.
