Hi,

I'm planning a trip that'll have me passing through the Amarillo area in late Feb/early March and I'm wondering if the trails at PDC are typically rideable that time of year? How much rain or snow would it take to close 'em down? If PDC won't work, are there other trails nearby that may work better?

thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott,

Feb/Mar are normally pretty dry and a great time of year to ride the trails at PDC - cool weather, fewer hikers, and no biting flies. Post back when the date gets closer to know for sure.

I went out to the Girl Scout Camp on Sunday. Looks like it may be awhile.

If I was going to come by Amarillo in late Feb or March I would expect the trails to be in really good shape. The snow does wonderful things for the trail. It gets all the dirt packed down and makes the trails a lot easier to ride. This is of course if the trails don't get rutted by riding on them when they're too wet. Make sure and post here before you come for the current conditions. The Girl Scout camp is an alternative. It's open on Tues, Wed, Thur and Sunday. It's at 9th and Helium. It costs about $5.

At least my dog had a good time. Don't worry I didn't leave a mark on the trail.

Anyone know the condition of the trails in PDC for today's good weather?

Contact the North Texas Mountain Bike Patrol and you can get trail condition information.

I was up in the Amarillo area today and couldn't beleive how much snow was still left on the ground. On my way back to Lubbock I stopped by the gate at PDC. The guard there wasn't sure the condition of the trails but said that there were several groups of riders that have come through yesterday and today. With that said has anyone been down there recently to ride. A group of us from Lubbock are trying to put a group ride together and were wondering what the conditions are. Post up if anyone knows.

Not even close to drying out at PDC.
